2nd EUROPEAN AMATEUR CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP

GENERAL REGULATIONS

1. Invitation
European chess union (ECU), Montenegrin Olympic Committee (COK) 
and Chess Federation of Montenegro have the honor of inviting all 
the chess players, members of national’s federation belonging to 
ECU, to participate in the 2nd European Amateur Chess Championship.
2nd European Amateur Chess Championship will be held in 
Herceg Novi (Montenegro) from May 25 until June 2 2024.

2. Participation
Tournament is open to all players representing ECU Chess Federations, 
and whose on the FIDE rating list of April 1. 2024 will have rating 
2200 and lower, like as player whose don’t have FIDE rating.
Players will be classified in three categories:
1) Absolute category
2) players with rating lower than 2024
3) players with rating lower than 1800 and the players without rating.

3. Registration
Every federation, member of ECU have the right to nominate 1 player 
and 1 women player whose are getting status of invited players and 
they are free of paying entry fee.
Participants can make registrations by them own or by national federations.
Entry forms will be published on the tournament web-site until 
March 20. 2024.Registration must be made not later than 10. May 2024.

4. Entry fee
- players with international titles and rating from 2024-2200 40 EUR
- players with rating 1801-2000 50 EUR
- players with rating lower than 1800 and players without rating 60 EUR
Veteran’s (players born 1940. and before), juniors (players born 1987 
and later) and women chess players have discount of 10 EUR in case that 
they make their registration’s until May 10. 2024.
Those players whose registration will be made after 10. May 2024 will 
pay additional charge of 10 EUR.

Entry fee- rapid tournament
- players without rating and for the players with rating lower than 1800 20 EUR
- players with rating 1800 and higher, players with international titles, 
10 EURveterans, juniors and women

5. Accommodation
Accommodation will be provide in hotel “Plaza”, where the tournament will 
take place and in the hotel “Igalo” (3 km from playing hall- transfer will 
be provide by organizer)

Rooms in part “A” have directly telephone line, cable TV, mini bar a
nd air-condition.

Participants are not obligated to lodge in official hotel’s which are suggested 
by organizer. In case that participant of tournament will lodge by his own 
arrangement he will be obligate to pay additional entry fee of 50 EUR.

6. Travel conditions
The organizer of the event will organize transfer from Podgorica, Tivat and 
Cilipi (Dubrovnik, Croatia) airports.
The cost of transportation from Podgorica airport to Herceg Novi (120 km) 
with the return on the departure day is 70 EUR.
From Tivat airport to Herceg Novi (30 km) the cost of transportation is 30 EUR 
per person two ways.
The cost of transportation from Cilipi airport will be made individually depending 
of number of people interested for that transfer. Cilipi airport is 35 km far 
away from Herceg Novi.
Organizer is recommending to participants of Championship to use every-day line 
of official transporter of Championship “Montenegro airlines” from Frankfurt, 
Zurich and Vienna to Podgorica.
Special offer for this flight’s will be published on the tournament web-site not 
later than March 31.

The Championship will be held in grand hall of hotel “Plaza”- Herceg Novi 
(2nd level of hotel).

“Midnight” blitz tournaments will be organized every night from May 27. until 
June 1.After six qualifications tournaments on June 2. will be organized final 
“midnight” blitz tournament with rich prizes fund.

10. Rules and regulations
The tournament will be played according to the Swiss System in 9 rounds. Rate o
f play will be 1 h and 30 minutes per player for the whole game with an increment 
of 30 seconds per move starting from move one.
All other details will be precise in the Tournament regulation.

European Amateur Championship in rapid will be held on the free day on June 2.
The tournament will be played according to the Swiss System in 9 rounds. 
Rate of play will be 15 minutes per player for the whole game.

11. Prizes
Total prizes fund on the Championship will be 10.000 EUR (58 prizes)
Beside this organizer also provided 50 special prizes in good’s with valuable 
of 2.000 EUR. Schedule of the prizes will be announced at the technical meeting.
If more than 400 players take part on Championship organizer guaranty that prizes 
fund will be increased for 30% (and money and special prizes)

Juniors (500 EUR – 4 prizes):

Only one prize can be awarded to a player (the bigger one).

(1.100 EUR – in case of 200 or more players organizer is guaranty increase of prizes for 50%)
